Chapter House Refinance / Construction Projects 4/28/2003 - Refinance Completed:
The Delta Tau Chapter House Corporation completed the process of refinancing its Chapter House. Special thanks to Warren Short for helping the Chapter find a lender. We were able to lower our interest rate and obtain some cash out to complete some major improvement projects over the summer. Some of those projects include completely renovating the upstairs bathroom, reflooring the first floor, and termite control and repairs.
6/8/2004 - Construction Update:
Since refinancing the Chapter House last spring, the Chapter and the Board of Governors have been busy making improvements to the House. The biggest, and most desperately needed, project was completed during the fall quarter, as an entirely renovated upstairs bathroom was finally completed. The bathroom was completely gutted. Two brand new tile showers were constructed. All new cabinetry was installed, along with two new sinks, and even a granite counter top. Large ceramic floor tiles were laid on the floor, along with improvements to eliminate leakage to the wood floor and supports below. A new toilet was also hooked up and a urinal with a privacy wall was added too. It really is a sight to see, and the brothers love all of the new amenities. Check out the Winter 2004 edition of the Kellogg Spirit (link below) to see pictures of the project.

Other projects that have been completed include the removal of two palm trees from the front yard because they were causing damage to the roof and trim. The House was also tented and fumigated for termites and other pests over the 2003 Christmas holiday as well. The Chapter also replaced the carpet on the stairs in the House, in the upstairs hallway, and in the public areas of the attic. Some minor electrical repair work and the installation of hard-wired smoke detectors throughout the House has also been completed as well. With the completion of these projects, the House has returned to full occupancy.

Upcoming potential projects include a new block wall and gate along the back (south) side of the property. Not only is the existing wooden fence currently in need of replacement, but the new wall will help with both aesthetics and security. It is also likely that the Shack bathroom will be redone since it had to endure a whole year of being the only bathroom at the House with a working shower before the upstairs bathroom was completed. Even more projects are in the planning for further down the road, so watch for more updates to come.
Convention 2002 Recap Delta Tau Invades New Orleans!
In the summer of 2002, 23 brothers from Delta Tau made a journey to New Orleans for the largest event in the history of Phi Kappa Tau, the 2002 National Convention. We took the city, as well as the Convention, by storm. Check out the tale of our 9 days in "The Big Easy" and see why this road trip will likely go down as the best road trip in the history of our Chapter!
